In December 2023, the civil explosive industry successfully achieved its annual target, showing a steady growth in economic indicators, stable demand for explosive varieties, comprehensive replacement of electronic detonators, and a monthly decrease in main material prices.

1. Production enterprise situation

In December, production enterprises completed a GDP of 3.471 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 2.35%; The total sales value was 3.447 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.42%.

In December, production enterprises achieved a main business revenue of 5.155 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.13%; Realized a total profit and tax of 1.005 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.92%; Realized a total profit of 585 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 15.34%; Realized a revenue of 3.329 billion yuan from blasting services, a year-on-year increase of 21.73%.

From January to December, production enterprises completed a total GDP of 43.658 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.93% (see Figure 1); The cumulative total sales value completed was 43.448 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.73%.

From January to December, production enterprises achieved a cumulative main business revenue of 49.951 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.19%; The cumulative total amount of profits and taxes achieved was 11.712 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39.97%; The cumulative total profit achieved was 8.527 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 44.99% (see Figure 2); Accumulated revenue from blasting services reached 33.804 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.80%.

2. Sales enterprise situation

In December, sales enterprises completed a total purchase value of 1.859 billion yuan for civilian explosive products, a year-on-year increase of 3.50%; The total sales value of civil explosive products reached 2.146 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.84%.

In December, sales enterprises achieved a total profit and tax of 176 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.83%; Realized a total profit of 72 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 42.43%; Realized a revenue of 109 million yuan from blasting services, a year-on-year decrease of 13.31%.

From January to December, sales enterprises completed a total purchase value of 18.373 billion yuan for civil explosive products, a year-on-year increase of 11.54%; The total sales value of civil explosive products reached 21.74 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.83%.

From January to December, sales enterprises achieved a total profit and tax of 2.441 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.01%; Accumulated total profit of 1.723 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.97%; Accumulated revenue from blasting services reached 1.147 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 10.79%.

3. Main material price

In December, the price of powdered ammonium nitrate was 2841 yuan/ton, a year-on-year decrease of 7.98% and a month on month increase of 0.57%; The price of porous granular ammonium nitrate was 2936 yuan/ton, a year-on-year decrease of 7.72% and a month on month increase of 0.20%; The price of liquid ammonium nitrate is 2699 yuan/ton, a year-on-year decrease of 8.20% and a month on month increase of 0.45%.

From the price changes of major ammonium nitrate varieties throughout the year, the overall price shows a downward trend, with an average price of 2913 yuan/ton. (Please refer to the monthly changes in ammonium nitrate prices in the attached figure for details)

2、 Completion status of major civil explosive products

ONE. Production (purchase), sales, and inventory of main products

In December, the production and sales of industrial explosives by manufacturing enterprises were 402500 tons and 416800 tons, respectively, an increase of 1.09% and 3.99% year-on-year; Among them, the on-site mixed explosive production was 1400000 tons, an increase of 7.20% year-on-year. The production and sales of industrial detonators by manufacturing enterprises were 70 million and 71 million, respectively, an increase of 19.12% and 13.06% year-on-year.

In December, the purchase and sales of industrial explosives by sales enterprises were 147000 tons and 147500 tons, respectively, an increase of 4.06% and 10.76% year-on-year; The purchase and sales of industrial detonators by sales enterprises were 38 million and 35 million, respectively, an increase of 7.90% and 15.90% year-on-year.

From January to December, the cumulative production and sales of industrial explosives by production enterprises were 4.581 million tons and 4.5819 million tons, respectively, an increase of 4.34% and 4.62% year-on-year (see Figure 3). Among them, the cumulative production of on-site mixed explosives was 1.6397 million tons, an increase of 10.76% year-on-year. The cumulative production and sales of industrial detonators by manufacturing enterprises were 724 million and 729 million, respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 10.06% and 10.54% (see Figure 4).

From January to December, the cumulative purchase and sales of industrial explosives by sales enterprises were 1.57 million tons and 1.5796 million tons, respectively, an increase of 2.66% and 4.33% year-on-year; The cumulative purchase and sales of industrial detonators by sales enterprises were 370 million and 378 million, respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 15.81% and 14.21%.

In terms of inventory, at the end of 2023, the total inventory of industrial explosives in production enterprises was 62600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.73%; The inventory of industrial detonators was 49 million rounds, a year-on-year decrease of 9.26%. The total inventory of industrial explosives in sales enterprises was 26200 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 35.78%; The inventory of industrial detonators was 41 million rounds, a year-on-year decrease of 22.64%.

TWO. Changes in year-on-year production of main product varieties

From the changes in the production of industrial explosives, the total production of industrial explosives in 2023 was 4.581 million tons, and the proportion of production of various varieties remained basically the same as last year.

In 2023, the production of gel emulsion explosives was 2.7884 million tons, an increase of 4.40% year-on-year; The production of gel emulsion explosives accounts for 60.87% of the total explosive production, which is the same as the same period last year.

In 2023, the production of porous granular ammonium oil explosives was 1.0312 million tons, an increase of 5.38% year-on-year; The production of porous granular ammonium oil explosives accounts for 22.51% of the total explosive production, an increase of 0.2 percentage points compared to 2022.

The total production of powdered explosives in 2023 was 682800 tons, an increase of 2.77% year-on-year. Among them, the cumulative production of expanded ammonium nitrate explosive was 329200 tons, an increase of 5.19% year-on-year. The proportion of expanded ammonium nitrate explosive production to the total explosive production was 7.19%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to 2022; The cumulative production of powdered emulsion explosives was 21.77 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.62%. The production of powdered emulsion explosives accounted for 4.75% of the total explosive production, a decrease of 0.6 percentage points compared to 2022; The cumulative production of modified ammonium oil explosives reached 135900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.91%. The production of modified ammonium oil explosives accounted for 2.97% of the total explosive production, an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to 2022.

From the changes in the production of industrial detonator varieties, the total production of industrial detonators in 2023 was 724 million rounds, of which electronic detonators have been fully replaced.

In 2023, the production of electronic detonators was 670 million rounds, a year-on-year increase of 94.89%, accounting for 92.54% of the total production of detonators, an increase of 50 percentage points compared to 2022; The production of detonator tubes was 33 million rounds, a year-on-year decrease of 89.57%. The production of detonator tubes accounted for approximately 4.56% of the total production of detonators, a decrease of 34 percentage points compared to 2022; The production of industrial electric detonators was 21 million rounds, a year-on-year decrease of 84.94%. The production of industrial electric detonators accounted for about 2.90% of the total production of detonators, an increase of 15 percentage points compared to 2022; The production of magneto electric and other special purpose detonators is 40000 rounds, accounting for less than 0.01%.

THREE、Geographical distribution of annual production of industrial explosives and industrial detonators

1. Industrial explosives

In 2023, 18 provinces in China achieved a year-on-year positive increase in industrial explosive production, with Xinjiang, Guizhou, Guangdong, and Hebei provinces experiencing an annual production increase of over 10%; The annual production of industrial explosives in the other 12 provinces has decreased to varying degrees compared to the same period last year, with Jiangsu, Ningxia, and Chongqing experiencing an annual production decline of over 10%.

In terms of total production, in 2023, there are 5 provinces with an annual industrial explosive production exceeding 250000 tons, namely Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Xinjiang, Sichuan, and Liaoning. Among them, Inner Mongolia's annual explosive production is 620000 tons, accounting for 13.6% of the industry's total production, continuing to maintain the top position in the industry.

2. industrial detonator

In 2023, there were 14 provinces with a positive increase in annual production of industrial detonators, among which Xinjiang, Ningxia, Jilin, and Henan provinces saw an annual production increase of over 50%; The annual production of detonators in the other 12 provinces has decreased to varying degrees, with 2 provinces experiencing a decrease of over 40%, namely Anhui and Shanxi. In terms of total output, the provinces with an annual industrial detonator production exceeding 50 million rounds in 2023 include Sichuan, Liaoning, Shanxi, Henan, Hunan, and Yunnan.
